In the summer of 1864, Brigadier General Francis Shoup created the last line of defense along the Chattahoochee River. Civil War historian Michael K. Shaffer will share insights on Shoup, the River Line, and the military action along this stretch of unique fortifications.

Speaker Bio: Michael K. Shaffer is a Civil War historian, instructor, lecturer, newspaper columnist, and author. Shaffer is  a member of the Society of Civil War Historians, Historians of the Civil War Western Theater, and the Georgia Association of Historians. He teaches Civil War Courses at Kennesaw State University's College of Professional Education, and at Emory University, and frequently speaks to various groups across the country.
