Update (11:10 am - April 6) – Boil Water Advisory Following 20” Water Main Break Lifted for All Locations

  •  Update (April 6 - 11:10 am): Boil Water Advisory is lifted for the following (which concludes the isolated boil water advisory issued for all locations impacted by the 20" water main break).

    Businesses along South Cobb Drive from Ridgeview to Millpond Rd
  • Update (4:24 pm April 4) – Water Service Following 20” Water Main Break – Service has been restored to Stone Castle Circle (The Gates Townhomes) and to Wexford Apartments through temporary repairs.

    A boil water advisory is in place for all properties listed below for another 24 to 48 hours. Apartment management, under advisement by City of Smyrna staff, is working on providing – should a need arise - augmented on-site services to assist their residents as the water infrastructure to and within the apartment buildings undergo repairs and/or rerouting. The City of Smyrna Emergency Management team will continue to monitor the situation.

Update at 12:06 pm April 4: Estimate on rerouting service lines for temporary restoration of water is approx. four (4) hours. The Smyrna Fire Department is onsite with water and will remain onsite for water distribution until service is restored.  Areas still affected and still currently out of water include:
Stone Castle Circle and Wexford Apartments.

The main is a large one requiring measures deep underground. Isolating and repairing this break is now requiring a measure that may take another eight to 12 hours (this update was posted at approx. 8:00 am on Tues., April 4).

Water has been restored to the following areas (see below) and crews are taking water samples to be tested to address the isolated boil water advisory. For these locations (listed below) the latest update (April 4 at 1:05 pm) we have is that the boil water advisory is still in place and is expected to extend at least until at/after 4:00 pm today (April 4). This is only an update and not intended to predict the testing results. We will post an update once testing is done. Thank you for your patience.

Areas still affected and still currently out of water include:

Crews are diligently looking for sources (Valves) to restore water to all locations while the contractor is still excavating 20+ft deep to make the repairs.

Earlier: UPDATE FOR AN ISOLATED AREA (see below).

Update at 4:30 pm (Isolated Boil Water Advisory – for the below listed): It is estimated that water service will return for the following in six to 12 hours. However, a boil water advisory will be in place from the time that the water service returns through this evening and into Tuesday – when water will be tested again. Once water service is restored to the following, a boil water advisory is in place overnight for this limited area:
• Mill Pond Road
• Mill Pond Drive
• Mill Pond Court
• Kenning Hall Drive
• Kenning Hall Court
• Walton Lane Apartments
• Bridge Lane
• Rhyne Circle
• Businesses along both sides of South Cobb Drive from Ridgeview Hospital to Mill Pond Road.

Again, the boil water advisory is not widespread and is isolated to the above listed.

5:00 pm - King Springs Road has been evaluated and has been reopened.

Update (April 3 at 3:34 pm): Cobb Marietta Authority and the City of Smyrna are preparing to make use of a residual line in the area of Concord Road to address water pressure. If you experience cloudy or muddy water, please run the cold line in your bathtub/shower to clear the line.

Earlier Message (2:40 pm): King Springs Road is closed in the area of South Cobb Drive as crews address the impact and repair timeline of a broken 20" water main. Please be aware that crews are on site and are assessing the impact on water service. At present, travel is fine one South Cobb Drive, but King Springs is closed. Please use other routes to access homes and businesses in the area. Updates will be posted as they are available.

Update: April 3 at 2:53 pm - all areas within 1/2 mile of the location(s) on the map below are affected. Crews have the water main break isolated. It will take six to 12 hours to repair water main this size. Select link for access to website posting with map.
