Closings Due to Inclement Weather / Note about Friday Curbside Sanitation/Recycling

Due to the anticipated impacts from the Helene weather system, facilities that are normally open after 5:00 pm will close on Thurs., Sept. 26 at 5:00 pm and remain closed through Fri., Sept. 27

  • Date: -

City of Smyrna offices and facilities close at 5:00 pm today (Thurs., Sept. 26) and remain closed through Fri., Sept. 27 with the exception of the essential services of Public Safety and Public Works remaining on duty, responding to emergencies. (Read through for curbside sanitation/recycling service information for Friday routes).

  • Please expect heavy weather impacts beginning this evening through early Friday and if you do not need to travel, do not.
  • If you experience an emergency, please call 911 (Do not use social media to report emergency situations).

Regarding other City services, if it is offered through access to a facility, please expect those services to be unavailable as our facilities are closed. For curbside sanitation/recycling for Friday routes, see below:

  • For curbside sanitation/recycling, please be aware that we do not recommend leaving your trash can and/or recycling bin on the curb this evening and do not recommend that you attempt to place receptacles at the curb until after the threat of wind/rain and associated flooding and/or downed power lines are clear of your area on Friday. With that said, as conditions allow, our Sanitation division will attempt collections on Friday once the main weather has cleared the area. In the event that your address is missed, please plan to place your trash can at the curb on Monday morning by 7:00 am, as Public Works will conduct yard waste collection in conjunction with missed Friday route collections. This applies only to Friday routes for trash and curbside recycling.
