Registration for the application portal is open and applications open at noon on Monday, May 3. Update (Mon., July 27, 2020):
The application period for the second round of Small Business Relief Grants begins today, Mon., July 27 and closes on August 21.
Round two of the SelectCobb Small Business Relief Grants is opening from July 27 through August 21 which gives you opportunity to apply for relief grants for your small business.
All small businesses are encouraged to apply. Businesses who previously received PPP are now eligible for these grant funds. $7M has been given, but there is over $40M still available!
Note: This is not a first come, first served application. ALL applications submitted by the deadline and that meet the requirements will be considered.

New for round two:
• Businesses can include both W-2 and 1099 employees toward their total number of employees.
Small businesses must meet the following requirements:
• Business must be an existing for-profit corporation, partnership or sole proprietorship
• Business headquarters or primary location must be within Cobb County
• Business must have 100 or fewer full-time, W-2 employees and/or individual 1099 contractors that function like employees, i.e., employees or contractors working at least 30 hours per week or 130 hours per month
• Business must have been in continuous operation for a minimum of one year prior to March 13, 2020
• Business must have a current business license issued by Cobb County Government, City of Acworth, City of Austell, City of Kennesaw, City of Marietta, City of Powder Springs or City of Smyrna
• Business must be current on all local taxes
• Business may be home-based or located in an owned or leased commercial space
• Business must certify if it has received PPP/SBA funds and the amount in which it received as of time of application submittal
• Business cannot be a publicly-traded company
• Ineligible businesses include: Gambling institutions, multi-level marketing organizations, real estate investment firms and adult entertainment

Update (Friday, May 29, 2020):
From the Cobb Chamber of Commerce - Grant Applications Open June 8 for Cobb Small Businesses
The Cobb County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved $50M for small business grants to be administered by SelectCobb to help our a Cobb County businesses with 100 employees or less. The process for the application is as follows:
- The website for small business grants goes live on June 1 with information on the grants (https://selectcobb.com/industries/grants/ );
- The application will be uploaded at 10:00 am on June 8;
- A webinar on how to apply for the small business grants will be on June 10 at 10:00 am through the Cobb Chamber; and
- The application portal will be open until June 26 at 5:00.
- All grants submitted in that time frame will be evaluated (this is not first come first served).
Grants are available in three tiers as follows:
1 to 10 employees – up to $20,000
11 to 50 employees – up to $30,000
51 to 100 employees – up to $40,000
The grant website will have a lot of information about how to apply, document needs, etc. so you can gather everything and be prepared to complete and submit the application between June 8 and June 26. Read more here.

In a call with Smyrna Businesses the morning of Tuesday, May 26, 2020, Mayor Norton made sure that Smyrna businesses are aware of an upcoming opportunity for grants through the Cobb County Commission and the Cobb Chamber of Commerce. $50 Million Grant Program through Cobb County Commission and the Cobb Chamber of Commerce "Select Cobb" - this is developing and we expect to post a link for the application process later in the week of May 25. The Memorandum of Understanding (revised) is available on this website, but the program is not administered by the City of Smyrna. Please be advised that the Cobb County Commission was set to vote on the MOU on Tuesday, May 26, 2020. The MOU is now revised from the proposed version that was available prior to Cobb County Commission vote. If you have an earlier version (prior to approx. 3:45 p.m. on Tues., May 26), please refer to the one linked above or refer to the Cobb County government website.

The call will focus on the Cobb Commission vote Tuesday on a $50 million small business grant program, as well as funds available through Support Smyrna for employees of Smyrna businesses.

Governor's Office Guidelines for Reopening Businesses
The Governor's office posted a webpage with guidance for restaurants, gyms, estheticians, and other businesses authorized to begin resuming business operations. The state also issued a Covid-19 FAQ Page that provides more information and clarity regarding business operations during this time.
Latest Relief Funding Bill Signed into Law
On Friday (April 24, 2020), the President signed the CARES Act, which includes $376 billion in relief for businesses and employees affected by COVID-19. The U.S. Small Business Administration offers several coronavirus relief options. Click here to learn more.

Following the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act that was recently signed by President Trump and a request for Georgia from Governor Brian Kemp, Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster loan assistance is now available to businesses in Georgia suffering substantial economic injury as a result of the COVID-19. These loans can provide vital economic support to small businesses to help overcome the temporary loss of revenue they are experiencing. Here are the application details below that we are promoting and would love your help promoting as well.

SBA Loan Application
The U.S. Small Business Administration is offering low-interest federal disaster loans for working capital to Georgia small businesses suffering substantial economic injury as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). As provided by the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act that was recently signed by President Trump and following a request for Georgia from Governor Brian Kemp, SBA disaster assistance is now available to the entire state of Georgia. These loans can provide vital economic support to small businesses to help overcome the temporary loss of revenue they are experiencing. Loans may be used to pay fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable and other bills that can’t be paid because of the disaster’s impact. Here are a few helpful application notes:
• Applicants may apply online at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela.
• Please note that applicants are applying for the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) Program, so they MUST select the Economic Injury (EIDL) Loan Option.
• If an applicant selects the wrong option, they do not have to re-register but will need to start the application again.

The Cobb Chamber of Commerce communicated this morning that the U.S. Chamber and SBA officials are suggesting that even if the paperwork has not been finalized it will be soon, and business owners who wish to seek an SBA loan are encouraged to go ahead and register on the SBA website so they will already have that process completed and be ready to apply.
