The Smyrna Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics Team seeks to successfully resolve all critical incidents with a minimal use of force. This unit is made up of a group of highly disciplined, well trained officers who are charged with the responsibilities of effectively dealing with various high risk incidents where special tactics, weapons, and equipment may be needed to bring about a safe and peaceful resolution. Wherever possible, negotiated surrender of the suspect(s) is the desired outcome. All life is precious and physical force will be used only as a last resort to protect innocent lives.
