Under the Georgia Open Records Act (O.C.G.A. §50-18-70 to §50-18-77), all public records are available for personal inspection and copying, except those which by order of a court of this state or by law are specifically exempted from disclosure.

Pursuant to O.C.G.A. §50-18-71(b)(2), the Open Records Coordinator for the Smyrna Police Department is Sarah Cramer. All requests for Open Records should be made in writing to the Open Records Coordinator. Information relating to the request will be made available within three (3) business days as permissible and applicable by law after it has been received by the Open Records Coordinator. If the production of information requested is not possible within the three days, the Open Records Coordinator will send correspondence with that information and a timeframe for when records will be available.

The easiest and most efficient method of requesting information and search archives from the Open Records Coordinator is to submit a request online:

All documents released will be reviewed and redacted per the exceptions listed in the Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. §50-18-72. Any applicable fees that are issued for requests can be paid by check or via telephone by contacting the Records Division at: 770-434-9481.
