Committee to Honor Fanny Williams

On February 14, 2022, Mayor Derek Norton announced the appointment of the Committee to Honor Fanny Williams. The goal of the committee is to identify and recommend appropriate memorials and activities to honor Fanny Williams.

Fanny Williams Legacy Project

In August 2022, the Committee to Honor Fanny Williams collectively agreed to move forward with a Request for Qualifications for the Fanny Williams Legacy Project (“Project”), approved an official Mission Statement, and the RFQ Judges Panel.

Mission Statement

“We celebrate Fanny Williams as an African American woman, for her legacy of activism, economic sustainability, social justice that gave agency to people who did not have a voice, and her lasting impact on our community.”
